Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary stated today that the new Modern Assembly Complex in Jammu is expected to be ready for operation by October 2027.
The Deputy Chief Minister made these remarks while inspecting the progress of work on the under-construction Legislative Assembly Complex. He reviewed the pace and quality of execution and directed the concerned officers to expedite the remaining works to ensure timely completion.
Speaking to the media, he stated that the multi-story complex has been designed to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure, enhanced functionality, and improved public convenience. The project integrates administrative efficiency, public access, media facilities, healthcare support, and adequate parking infrastructure to ensure smooth conduct of House proceedings.
"We expect the project to be completed by October 2027, and we are hopeful that the 2028 Budget Session will be held in the new Assembly," he said, cautioning officers and contractors against any delays and stressing strict adherence to timelines and quality standards.
During the visit, he inspected the Assembly Hall, Press and Guest Galleries, basements, and offices designated for dignitaries. He also directed that the seating capacity in the House and galleries be enhanced, keeping in view future requirements, including possible delimitation.
Chief Engineer, PWD Jammu, Er. Rajesh Kumar Agastam, briefed him about the facilities, including parking areas, canteens, a Health & Wellness Centre, and allied service blocks.
Later, the Deputy Chief Minister conducted a surprise inspection of the PMGSY Jammu office, stressing punctuality and efficient public service delivery.
