The Islamic University of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Cultural Academy of Kashmir, observed International Mother Language Day with academic discussions and poetry.

February 25, Srinagar: The Islamic University of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Cultural Academy of Kashmir, celebrated International Mother Language Day on campus with academic and literary events.

Shafi Shauq, who was awarded the Padma Shri, was the chief guest. The event was also attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Prof. Majrooh Rashid, senior faculty members, poets, scholars, and students from across the Valley.

Speakers highlighted the importance of mother languages in preserving cultural identity, heritage, and intellectual traditions. They emphasized the role of educational institutions in promoting and safeguarding linguistic diversity.

The program featured participation from prominent poets and senior professors, reflecting the academic community's commitment to promoting and preserving mother tongues.

The event concluded with a collective resolve to continue organizing such initiatives to strengthen linguistic and cultural awareness among the younger generation.
