Proposed Arch Sparks Controversy in Washington D.C..webp

April 11, New Delhi — Designs were unveiled on Friday for a 250-foot arch in Washington, proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, which, if approved, would dramatically change the capital's skyline, already filled with monuments.

The ivory-colored structure, inspired by European grand arches, would feature elaborate gold detailing, a towering statue at the top, and patriotic inscriptions drawn from the Pledge of Allegiance.

Although the proposal is progressing towards a key approval stage, it has already faced legal challenges and opposition from local residents.

If built, it would become the largest federal monument constructed in the capital in over 80 years – and one of its most controversial.
