
Poonch, April 9: Authorities swiftly responded to the landslide threat in Chikriban, taking immediate steps to protect residents and property.
Following instructions from Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma, a joint team of district administration and police officials visited the affected area to assess the situation and implement immediate relief measures.
The team, led by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Muhammad Sayeed and comprising Tehsildar Mandi Ashfaq Hussain, DySP Headquarters Neeraj Sharma, SHO Loran, SHO Mandi, along with revenue officials and local representatives, conducted an on-site inspection.
During the assessment, nine residential houses and a primary school were found to be vulnerable to the landslide threat. As a precautionary measure, the school has been relocated to a nearby private building to ensure the safety of students.
The administration has arranged alternative accommodation for families living in the vulnerable zone. A relief camp has also been established under the supervision of the Naib Tehsildar Loran to provide immediate assistance to affected residents.
Reassuringly, no loss of life has been reported so far. Additionally, two government buildings have been kept ready for relocation if the situation worsens.
The district administration continues to closely monitor the situation and remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.
