Protests Disrupt Lok Sabha Session Over LPG Prices.webp

New Delhi, March 11 The Lok Sabha session was adjourned until noon on Wednesday following vociferous protests by opposition members over various issues, including the increase in LPG prices.

As soon as the House met for the day, opposition members raised various issues and shouted slogans. Several of them resorted to slogans within the House.

When it was Congress member Kumari Selja's turn to ask a question, she simply stated that the government should first reduce the LPG price.

Responding to queries, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw criticized the opposition members, saying they seemed uninterested in the nation's progress.

Dilip Saika, who was presiding over the session, urged the protesting members to sit down and told them that they would have opportunities to raise issues after the Question Hour.

"The message that the government wants to run the House, but the opposition does not, will go out," Saika said as he repeatedly requested the members to return to their seats.

However, the protests continued, forcing the Chair to adjourn the proceedings until noon.

During the Question Hour on Wednesday, six questions and supplementary questions related to the information technology and railway ministries were taken up.

The government and the opposition are at loggerheads over various issues, and the House has been witnessing disruptions during the Budget session, the second phase of which started on Monday.
