Patna, March 31 Two individuals have been arrested for allegedly assaulting and dragging a woman on a street in full public view in Bihar's Nalanda district, police said on Tuesday.
The incident, a purported video clip of which has gone viral on social media, took place in the Noor Sarai area a few days ago, they said.
The woman had filed a complaint on March 26, and two of the accused, Ashok Yadav and Matlu Mahto, both residents of Ajaypur village, have been arrested, they added.
Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining individuals seen in the video, police said.
Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav condemned the "shameful incident in the home district of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar".
"It was an attempted gang rape. Those who misbehaved with the woman tore off her clothes. The incident presents a disturbing picture of the breakdown of law and order in Bihar," alleged the RJD working president.
