Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bashrath Qayoom inaugurated the provincial-level inter-district boys' cricket tournament at the Sports Stadium in Pulwama, with 22 teams participating.
March 11, Srinagar: Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Bashrath Qayoom, today inaugurated the provincial-level Inter-District Cricket Tournament for boys at the Sports Stadium in Pulwama. The tournament is being organized by the Youth Services and Sports Department.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner praised the department for organizing the sporting event, stating that such initiatives support the government's vision of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan by engaging youth in constructive and healthy activities.
Dr. Qayoom said that the government is committed to promoting sports among young people and providing them with opportunities to showcase their talent. He highlighted that sports play a crucial role in the physical, mental, and social development of youth.
He further noted that participation in sports helps inculcate discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship, guiding young people towards positive and successful lives.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Pulwama, Mohd Iqbal, and other officials were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
Following the inauguration, matches were held at various venues across Pulwama, including the Sports Stadium. A total of 22 teams are participating in the tournament.
