Srinagar, February 28: The Jammu and Kashmir cricket team made history by winning their first Ranji Trophy title after securing a decisive first-innings lead over the Karnataka cricket team in the final at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground, Hubli.
In the summit clash, Jammu & Kashmir amassed a commanding 584, setting a strong foundation for victory. Karnataka responded with 293 in their first innings, conceding a significant lead that ultimately proved decisive as the five-day contest ended in a draw.
According to tournament regulations, the title was awarded to Jammu & Kashmir based on their first-innings advantage, marking a significant achievement for the team and ending decades of waiting for the prestigious domestic crown.
Shubham Pundir was named Player of the Match for his outstanding contribution in the final, while pace spearhead Auqib Nabi Dar was named Player of the Series for his consistent and impactful performances throughout the tournament. Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal battled hard with a century in the final but ultimately fell short.
