Punjab Assembly Session Focuses on LPG Crisis.webp

Chandigarh, March 16 Members of the Aam Aadmi Party arrived at the Punjab assembly on Monday wearing yellow robes printed with slogans criticizing the central government over the LPG shortage.

Before entering the Vidhan Sabha on the last day of the budget session, the AAP MLAs gathered outside the premises and shouted slogans against the Centre. They continued to wear the robes inside the House.

Raising the issue of LPG in the assembly, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema alleged that the non-availability of gas cylinders is being felt in every kitchen in the country, while restaurants and businesses are shutting down, and attributed this to the complete failure of the Union government's foreign policy.

During the session, several AAP MLAs entered the Well of the House, shouting slogans against the Central government.

On March 12, the Punjab assembly had unanimously passed a resolution stating that the failure of the Centre's foreign policy has led to a shortage and price hike of LPG, causing hardship to people across the country.

Earlier in the day, AAP leaders and workers held a protest at Sector 17 in Chandigarh over the LPG issue.

They recalled that when the BJP was in the opposition, its leaders used to sit on the streets and bang their chests when the LPG cylinder cost Rs 400; now, when the price is nearing the Rs 1,000 mark, they have become "deaf and mute".

The AAP leaders warned that if the LPG supply is not stabilized, the party will take to the streets and intensify their agitation, "making it difficult for BJP leaders to step out of their homes."
