Chandigarh, April 10 Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa on Friday demanded that the salaries of the chief minister, ministers, MLAs, and senior officials be withheld until the pending Dearness Allowance dues of government employees are released.
He said that lakhs of employees have been waiting for nearly 30 months for their dues, and it is unfair for those in power to continue receiving full salaries and benefits.
Bajwa stated that it was a matter of morality that ministers, legislators, and senior officials receive full pay while employees and pensioners face hardship.
Targeting the AAP government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, he alleged that employees have been "betrayed".
He urged the government to follow the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court to release pending Dearness Allowance (DA) installments and advised against challenging the order.
Bajwa said that approximately ₹14,500 crore in dues are pending, causing financial stress to employees and pensioners.
He also criticised the government for not properly implementing the Old Pension Scheme.
Bajwa urged the government to act quickly and ensure the payment of dues to restore trust among employees.
