Punjab Delegation Highlights Needs of Families, Promises Consideration.webp

Chandigarh, March 31 A delegation of families affected by terrorism from Punjab called on Governor Gulab Chand Kataria here on Tuesday, and submitted a memorandum highlighting their long-standing demands and concerns.

The delegation raised key issues, including the release of a pending financial package and compensation for the families of martyred police personnel and government employees, along with the extension of special family pension benefits, according to an official release here.

They also sought an increase in the pension for widows and parents of civilian victims.

The delegation further demanded the implementation of earlier policy decisions, the extension of deadlines for plot allotment and regularization, and the provision of concessional or free plots to families affected by terrorism, particularly those holding red and white cards, the statement said.

Highlighting employment concerns, they requested relaxation in eligibility conditions to provide jobs to one family member each of the victims and sought reservations in government jobs for families affected by terrorism.

They also sought pension support for elderly members of displaced families who migrated during the period of terrorism and later returned to Punjab.

Listening to their concerns, Kataria assured the delegation that their issues would be considered sympathetically, the statement said.

He said he would take up the matter with the concerned officers and departments and ensure that the demands are examined positively and constructively, it said.

The delegation comprised Satinderpal Singh Sidh, Dr B R Hasstir, Prince Kumar, Raman Kumar, Jaskaran Singh, Manjeet Kaur, Shinder Kaur, Chanchal Manhas and others.
