
Hoshiarpur (Punjab), March 22 A fire broke out at an automated driving license test center on Tanda Road on Sunday, causing significant damage to official records, police said.
No casualties were reported in the incident, police said, adding that the fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Jagdeep Singh said that the police received a call on an emergency helpline. Acting on the information, the police rushed to the scene along with fire tenders and brought the fire under control after an hour-long operation.
Fire Officer Arun Kumar said that two fire tenders were deployed, and the flames were contained. The fire caused significant damage to items inside the office, including a large portion of the office records.
Regional Transport Officer Amandeep Kaur said that a short circuit is suspected to be the cause, adding that the exact cause is yet to be determined.
