
Chandigarh, April 3 Rain affected parts of Punjab and Haryana on Friday, with daytime temperatures remaining below normal levels.
Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, experienced light rainfall. The maximum temperature here was 31.7 degrees Celsius, according to the meteorological department.
Other areas in the two states that received rain included Amritsar, Patiala, Mohali, Rupnagar, Ludhiana, Pathankot, Fazilka, Panchkula, Hisar, Bhiwani, and Sirsa.
However, the recent rainfall has raised concerns among farmers in the region, who fear damage to the standing wheat crop.
In Punjab, Patiala recorded a high of 32.1 degrees Celsius, followed by 30.3 degrees Celsius in Ludhiana and 26.2 degrees Celsius in Amritsar.
Gurugram in Haryana recorded a high of 32.8 degrees Celsius, followed by 32.4 degrees Celsius in Narnaul, 32.5 degrees Celsius in Ambala, and 30.9 degrees Celsius in Hisar.
Rohtak recorded a maximum of 31.7 degrees Celsius, according to the weather office.
The maximum temperatures in most places in the two states were up to four degrees Celsius below normal.
