Chandigarh, April 7 Rain lashed parts of Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday, with daytime temperatures registering a significant drop in many places, including Amritsar, which recorded a maximum of 21.7 degrees Celsius.

Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, received light showers during the day. It recorded a maximum temperature of 27.6 degrees Celsius, which is five degrees below the normal average, according to the meteorological department.

Ambala, Panchkula, Narnaul, Rohtak in Haryana, and Amritsar, Rupnagar, Mohali, Patiala, Pathankot, and Ludhiana in Punjab were among the other places that received rain.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a significant drop in daytime temperature, reaching a high of 21.7 degrees Celsius, which is 10 degrees below the normal average, according to the weather office.

Ludhiana recorded a high of 24.2 degrees Celsius, which is nine degrees below the normal average, while Patiala recorded a high of 26.1 degrees Celsius, which is seven degrees lower than the normal average.

Pathankot recorded a high of 23.5 degrees Celsius, while Hoshiarpur recorded a maximum of 23.9 degrees Celsius.

The temperature in Hisar, Haryana, settled at 25.4 degrees Celsius, which is 10 degrees below the normal average, while Ambala recorded a high of 26.8 degrees Celsius, which is seven degrees below the normal average.

Narnaul and Rohtak registered maximum temperatures of 24.5 degrees Celsius and 22.8 degrees Celsius, respectively, which are 12 and 13 degrees below the normal average.

Karnal recorded a high of 25.5 degrees Celsius, which is more than eight degrees below the normal average.

Opposition leaders in Punjab and Haryana have demanded compensation for farmers whose crops were damaged due to intermittent rainfall in various parts of the two states over the past few days.
