In Punjab, the police have recovered an RDX-laden improvised explosive device (IED), 4 pistols and live cartridges, and a large consignment of 1,215 MDMA tablets, along with approximately 5.5 kilograms of heroin, cocaine, ICE, magic mushrooms, and other narcotics. These items were seized during various operations in Amritsar, Mohali, and other areas of the state. So far, 14 members of foreign-based terror and drug modules have been arrested.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav revealed that the State Special Operations Cell in Mohali had uncovered a foreign-based terror module and thwarted a major terror plot by recovering a fully assembled, remote-controlled IED laden with RDX, along with live ammunition.

Furthermore, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force has recovered the MDMA tablets, along with other narcotics, and 9 lakh rupees in drug money, from 6 key operatives. These drugs are being supplied to the tri-city region of Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali, and Ludhiana, targeting urban youth. MDMA is a high-end synthetic psychoactive drug commonly known as Ecstasy.

In another operation, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted two cross-border drug and illegal arms smuggling modules and apprehended 10 individuals, along with approximately 5.3 kilograms of heroin, 3 sophisticated pistols, 34 live cartridges, and 4,500 rupees in drug money. Multiple FIRs have been registered, and further investigations are ongoing.
