Chandigarh, March 16 Light rains affected some areas in Punjab on Monday, leading to a slight drop in temperatures.

According to the local Meteorological office, Pathankot and Rupnagar in Punjab received 14 mm and 9.5 mm of rain, respectively. Hoshiarpur and Amritsar also experienced rainfall.

The maximum temperatures in Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Patiala were 21, 21.6, and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively, which was up to five degrees below the normal for the season.

In neighboring Haryana, the maximum temperature was recorded at 27.3 degrees Celsius in Ambala, 27 degrees in Hisar, 27.2 degrees in Karnal, and 33 degrees in Narnaul.

Chandigarh, the joint capital of the two states, experienced a maximum temperature of 26.4 degrees Celsius.
