
New Delhi, March 13 Two men were injured after a car, driven recklessly, jumped the median and collided with their vehicles on Pusa Road near Dev Prakash Shastri Marg on Friday, an official said.
The accident occurred around 11 am when the driver allegedly lost control of the speeding car between Ratanpuri Chowk and Todapur, they said.
The car jumped the median and entered the opposite carriageway of Dev Prakash Shastri Marg, hitting a motorcycle and a scooter, causing panic among commuters in the busy area.
Bystanders and locals rushed to help the injured riders and alerted the police. Amit Mishra, 33, who was riding the motorcycle, sustained serious injuries, while Manish, who was riding the scooter, also suffered injuries.
Police teams soon reached the spot and the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Mishra, who sustained serious injuries in the crash, is currently being treated at the hospital.
"The vehicles involved in the accident have been taken into police custody as part of the investigation. Further investigation into the matter is underway. Statements of the witnesses are also being recorded to ascertain the exact sequence of events leading to the accident," the officer said.
Legal action is being initiated against the driver responsible for the incident. Police said that they are also checking CCTV footage of the incident.
