QS Rankings Show JNU Progress Across Disciplines.webp

New Delhi, March 25 Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is among the top 50 institutions globally, according to the latest QS World University Rankings by subject released on Wednesday.

JNU has secured the 26th position in "Development Studies," improving from the 29th position in 2025.

Congratulating the JNU faculty, staff, and students, Vice Chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit said, "JNU has consistently achieved the highest rankings for the past three years. It continues to be a leader in academics, with 'Nari Shakti for Viksit Bharat.'"

Among the 23 entries submitted by the university for the QS rankings, "Development Studies" ranks among the top 50, while three other subjects are in the top 100 and eight are in the top 200.

JNU experienced a decline in its rankings for "Politics and International Studies," which were 95 in 2026 compared to 75 last year.

In the broad area of "Arts and Humanities," JNU's ranking has dropped from 177 in 2025 to 260 in 2026.

However, in "Sociology," JNU's ranking has improved from 101-150 to 86.

This is the 16th annual edition of the QS World University Rankings by subject, published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a London-based organization known for its university rankings.

The rankings benchmark over 21,000 academic programs across 1,900 universities in more than 100 countries, covering 55 disciplines and five broad faculty areas.
