Mumbai, March 21 Bollywood actress Radhika Madan walked the ramp for designers Mannat Jain and Sneha Ali Shetty of NIF Global on the second day of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW).

Each season, the NIF Global “The Runway” show serves as a launchpad for young designers from various parts of the country, and in this edition, the designers presented a mix of culture and contemporary design through five distinct collections.

The multi-designer show showcased a mix of culture and contemporary design through five distinct collections by emerging designers.

The collection by Jain and Shetty from NIF Global Mumbai Andheri was called "Folded Grids".

The actress, who is enjoying the success of her latest movie, "Subedaar", wore a multi-colored Madras check crop shirt, which she paired with teal-colored pleated pants.

"When I saw the collection, I couldn't believe that students had created this. I confirmed that. They are all talented, and it was an honor for me to walk for you. I look forward to seeing what you all do next. I will definitely be wearing your next collection, please contact me. I am happy and proud of all of you," Madan said after walking the ramp.

Jain and Ali Shetty said their collection is inspired by traditional Indian Madras checks and Japanese origami.

For the collection, the designer duo said they used techniques such as origami folds, bamboo pleats, layered panels, and folded pockets to create wearable silhouettes. They presented both men's and women's wear, including dresses, cropped shirts, layered vests, jackets, tops, and wide-leg trousers.

The other designers in the segment are Mehwish Kokni and Abuzar Khan, from Nashik, who presented the "The Geometry of Grace" collection. It featured blazers, tube tops, skirts, high-neck crop tops, fitted skirts, wide-leg trousers, and tailored jumpsuits.

Khushi Ketan Parekh and Sanika Rane from Mumbai's Ghatkopar, said their collection, "Inscria," is inspired by the art of the Kashmir Valley and muted desert tones.

The collection, which was crafted in denim and expressed in shades of maroon, olive green, and black, comprised oversized jackets, blazers, draped skirts, and waistcoats.

Designer Akash Singh from NIF Global Surat presented "Ishq-e-Taj", which he said is inspired by the Pietra Dura craftsmanship of the Taj Mahal.

The collection included structured coats, fitted dresses, and one-piece garments for women's wear.

From NIF Global Jaipur, Anshu Suman and Mamta Sheoran presented "The Han – Saw Dust". The collection was a mix of two cultures: the Korean Hanbok (traditional dress) with the Rajasthani Dabu (hand block printing).

The designers took traditional Korean garments and gave them a Rajasthani twist. Key pieces included Jeogori-style jackets, A-line skirts inspired by the Chima, harem pants inspired by Baji, and wrapped skirts in fabrics like Khadi and cotton drill.

Lakme Fashion Week 2026, in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), started on March 19 and will continue until 22.

The four-day event is being held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.
