Thiruvananthapuram, March 7 Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Saturday that China has built a "superb and unmatched" industrial system in the world, but the neighboring nation is "coercive and undemocratic".
Rahul, responding to questions during a dialogue with the Information Technology (IT) fraternity at Technopark here, said that China has captured the industrial production side, while the US, India, and most of the world are "focused on consumption".
He said that, in his view, the real jobs are in the industrial production sector, not the consumption sector, like the IT sector.
"The disappointing thing is that we have allowed China to simply dominate (industrial production)," Rahul, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, said.
"China has built a superb industrial system that is unmatched in the world. But we don't like their coercive system. We don't like the fact that they are not democratic," he added.
He said that if India can build an industrial production system while maintaining the country's democratic values, "it would be a huge service to the people of India and the world".
