The railways will build convenient underpasses across the country to prevent accidents while crossing railway tracks. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw directed the concerned officials regarding this initiative during a workshop held in New Delhi today. He said that these underpasses will be designed in such a way that their construction across the railway tracks can be completed in 12 hours only. The Railway Minister emphasised that the design must be such that people feel absolutely no hesitation in using the underpasses. Mr. Vaishnaw instructed officials that during the construction of these underpasses, care will be taken to ensure that a common person can easily traverse them carrying a bicycle, a motorcycle, or other items related to their work and livelihood.

These railway underpasses will be constructed at locations where a residential settlement lies on one side of the tracks, while fields, schools, cremation grounds, or other essential facilities are situated on the other.
