Rain Brings Air Quality Relief to Delhi.webp

New Delhi, March 16 Delhi experienced improved air quality on Monday, a day after heavy rainfall, with the air quality index falling into the "satisfactory" category.

The minimum temperature settled at 17.4 degrees Celsius, 2.3 degrees above normal.

Data from individual stations showed that Palam recorded a minimum temperature of 16 degrees Celsius, 0.9 degrees above normal, Lodhi Road 16.8 degrees Celsius, 2.8 degrees above normal, Ridge 15.6 degrees Celsius, 0.3 degrees below normal, and Ayanagar 16.4 degrees Celsius, 1.7 degrees above normal.

Many areas in Delhi experienced rain on Sunday. The cumulative rainfall of 24 hours, up to 8:30 am, showed that Safdarjung received 0.4 mm, Lodhi Road 0.5 mm, and Ayanagar 0.8 mm of rainfall, while Palam and Ridge recorded trace rainfall, according to weather observations.

Following the rainfall, Delhi's air quality also improved to 97.

If the 24-hour average AQI remains in the "satisfactory" category on Monday, it would mark the first day this year that Delhi's air quality falls within the satisfactory category.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) classification, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered "good," 51 to 100 "satisfactory," 101 to 200 "moderate," 201 to 300 "poor," 301 to 400 "very poor," and 401 to 500 "severe."
