
Chandigarh, April 8 Daytime temperatures in Haryana and Punjab remained significantly below normal on Wednesday, following heavy rains that had affected the region the previous day.
Chandigarh, the shared capital of both states, recorded a maximum temperature of 24.2 degrees Celsius, which is nine degrees below the normal limit, according to the Meteorological Department here.
In Punjab, Amritsar experienced a high of 24.9 degrees Celsius, down by seven degrees from normal. Ludhiana and Patiala reported maximum temperatures of 26.7 degrees and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively, which are six and eight degrees below normal.
Pathankot and Faridkot recorded highs of 23.5 degrees and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively. Hoshiarpur, Mohali, Bathinda, and Ferozepur had maximum temperatures of 23.6 degrees, 24.3 degrees, 26.2 degrees, and 27.1 degrees Celsius, respectively.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 24 degrees Celsius, over nine degrees below normal. Hisar registered a maximum of 29.2 degrees Celsius, down seven degrees from normal, while Karnal recorded a maximum of 25.7 degrees Celsius, eight degrees below normal limits.
Gurugram recorded a high of 27 degrees Celsius.
Earlier on Tuesday, many parts of Punjab and Haryana experienced significant rainfall.
