Jaipur, March 12 A man, his married wife, and her seven-year-old daughter were found dead in the Narmada canal in Jalore district of Rajasthan on Thursday, police said.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the man and the woman were in a romantic relationship and committed suicide by jumping into the canal early Thursday morning, they said.

The deceased have been identified as Amrit Bhil (27), Paras Devi (30) and her daughter Khushi (7).

Paras Devi was married to Rudaram Meghwal and was allegedly having an affair with Amrit from a nearby village.

"They were missing from their respective homes since last night. They reached near the canal in the Chitalwana area on a motorcycle and jumped into the canal," said Bhuraram, in charge of the Chitalwana police station.

Before jumping into the canal, they tied themselves with a piece of cloth. Their Aadhaar cards and mobile phones were found on the motorcycle on Thursday morning, he added.

He said a State Disaster Response Force team was called to the spot to recover the bodies.

The bodies were taken out of the canal in the evening and shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem, he said, adding that the matter is being investigated.
