Jaipur, March 12 Congress leader Ashok Gehlot expressed concern over the attack on former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah on Thursday and called for a thorough investigation into the incident.
"I am deeply concerned after hearing about the life-threatening attack on Farooq Abdullah. An attack taking place despite the presence of police and tight security is a very serious matter," said Gehlot, the former chief minister of Rajasthan.
"The entire incident should be thoroughly investigated, and there is a need to further strengthen the security of Abdullah," he added.
Abdullah narrowly escaped after a gunman allegedly fired at him while he was leaving a wedding function in Jammu on Wednesday night. Security personnel quickly apprehended the attacker and took him into custody.
