
Kota, Apr 3 A court in Rajasthan's Kota has awarded a life sentence to a dozen members of a family, including two women, in an eight-year-old murder case.
The Additional Sessions Court (Woman Harassment), Kota, on Thursday convicted all 12 members of the family involved in the murder, and awarded each convict a life sentence in prison.
The police registered a murder case on September 1, 2018, when Istiyak Hussain alias Guddu, 22, died a day before after being attacked with sharp weapons and sticks by 10-12 people following a dispute over a goat.
According to the victim's counsel, Advocate Raja Jamil, the murder was motivated by a dispute over a goat between the two families.
However, Jamil said that the dispute was reportedly resolved, adding that when Istiyak had gone to the other party for peace negotiations, they attacked him while he was standing at a nearby shop.
The 12 convicted were Ramjani, 57, Farjana, 43, Mukhtar, 31, Mustak, 29, Mubarik Ali, 26, Saddam Khan, 32, Shaheen Khanam, 37, Shaharukh, 26, Zaheer Khan, 35, Naimuddin, 26, Shahadatt, 30, and Basheer, 32, all residents of Bombay Yojana.
Following the court's order, they were sent to jail on Thursday evening, he added.
