Rajasthan Crops Affected by Adverse Weather; Farmers Seek Assistance.webp

Jaipur, April 4 Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday demanded immediate financial assistance for farmers affected by unseasonal rain and hailstorms in parts of the state, saying the damage has caused a crisis for farmers.

Gehlot said several regions have experienced crop losses due to adverse weather conditions caused by a western disturbance.

"In some parts of the state, unseasonal rain and hailstorms have brought disaster upon farmers. Wheat and isabgol crops have been damaged in the Bikaner division, while in Nagaur, crops such as isabgol, cumin, wheat, and fennel have suffered heavy losses," he said.

Highlighting the plight of farmers, the Congress leader said, "A few months ago, farmers struggled to obtain fertilizers and had to stand in long queues. Now they are facing the impact of harsh weather. The government should provide immediate financial support without any delay."

Reports of damage to standing wheat and other crops have emerged following rainfall and hailstorm activity recorded in several parts of Rajasthan on Friday.
