
Jaipur, March 19 Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Thursday inaugurated 207 new buses of the state road transport corporation from the Ajmer Road bus terminal here on the occasion of Rajasthan Day.
The induction of new buses of the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) is expected to strengthen public transport and provide improved travel facilities to commuters, officials said.
Speaking to the media, Sharma extended greetings on Rajasthan Day and the Hindu New Year.
He said various state-level programmes are being organised across the state to mark the occasion.
"The state is progressing rapidly towards realizing the vision of a developed India and a developed Rajasthan under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. New milestones of development have been achieved over the past two-and-a-half years," the chief minister said.
Sharma flagged off the buses after performing rituals. The new fleet includes 100 Blue Line Express buses, 79 Starline buses, and 28 air-conditioned buses.
These buses are equipped with modern safety features and provide comfortable travel options for passengers, the officials said.
During the programme, the chief minister also distributed helmets to 700 women, designating them as road safety ambassadors, and urged them to follow traffic rules.
Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel, and Jaipur MP Manju Sharma were present on the occasion.
