
Jaipur, April 9 A sleeper bus collided with a stationary trailer truck carrying iron rods on the Jaipur-Delhi national highway in Kotpulti, Rajasthan, on Wednesday night, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to 16 others, police said on Thursday.
The accident occurred near BDM Hospital on a flyover. The impact was severe, as the iron rods on the trailer truck pierced through the front of the bus, injuring the driver and some passengers.
The bus was travelling from Makrana to Haridwar with approximately 22 passengers when the accident occurred.
The deceased have been identified as bus driver Chandramohan, a resident of Ladoli village in Nagaur district, and a female passenger, Bichchu Devi.
The injured were admitted to the government BDM Hospital, where they received initial treatment and were later discharged, police said.
Kotputli SHO Rajesh Sharma said the damaged vehicles were later removed with the help of a crane to restore traffic on the highway.
"The trailer driver fled the scene. Further action is being taken," he said.
