Rajasthan: Opposition Leader Questions 'Normalised' LPG Supply.webp

Jaipur, March 15 Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly, Tikaram Jully, accused the Centre and the state government on Sunday of ignoring public concerns and questioned why people were queuing up for LPG cylinders if there was no shortage.

The Congress leader accused the state government of functioning like a "puppet" at the behest of the Centre and claimed both were acting arbitrarily.

Addressing a protest against the alleged shortage of LPG cylinders in Alwar, Jully said both the Centre and the state government were more concerned about "filling their coffers" than addressing the problems faced by people.

Congress workers raised slogans against the policies of the Centre and the state government during the protest and also burnt an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"It has become increasingly difficult for middle-class and poor families to run their kitchens due to the rising LPG prices and supply issues," he said.

He also questioned Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma's recent claim that the situation regarding LPG availability had normalised.

"If the situation is normal, why are people still standing in long queues for gas cylinders?" Jully asked.

Referring to the BJP's claim of a "double-engine government" with the party in power both at the Centre and in the state, he said the benefits of such governance were not visible to the people during the crisis.

Jully alleged that while the price of domestic LPG cylinders had been increased by Rs 60, affecting common households, the supply of commercial cylinders had also been disrupted.

"This mismanagement has led to a rise in black marketing of LPG cylinders across the state, but the government is sitting idle instead of addressing the problem," he said.
