Jaipur, April 4 – In a major breakthrough, police have arrested Rakesh Kumar Rewad, who had been on the run for over a year in connection with the cheating racket using Bluetooth in the recruitment exam for Junior Clerk Grade-II.
Rewad was apprehended on Friday by Investigation Officer Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Additional Police Commissioner, Shastri Nagar.
Additional Director General of Police (Licensing & Welfare) Vishal Baly informed that the case pertains to the re-examinations of Clerk Grade-II posts ordered by the Rajasthan High Court, held on March 12 and 19, 2023, as part of the Combined Competitive Examination-2022.
Rewad, a resident of Churu district, appeared for the exam on March 19 at Sanganer Tehsil S.S. School, Jaipur.
He was found using Bluetooth-enabled micro-devices to receive answers from external handlers. Investigations revealed that the main facilitator, Ishwar Kailash, had been providing candidates with Bluetooth-connected mobile devices in exchange for large sums of money.
Rewad received answers through this setup during the exam.
A separate case (FIR No. 66/2024 at Police Station Shastri Nagar) is already under investigation under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 120B of the Indian Penal Code, and Sections 3, 4, 6, 10 of the Rajasthan Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2022.
Rewad was also found to be involved in cheating using Bluetooth during the recruitment exam for Patwari, held on May 14, 2023.
Following confirmation of the malpractice, the State Government cancelled the affected examinations.
The investigation also revealed that handlers Ishwar Kailash and his associate Ramlal Kailash had collected hefty amounts from multiple aspirants and supplied them with devices to transmit answers during exams.
Earlier, on October 19, 2024, Rewad’s wife, Chandrakala Rewad, was also arrested for similar cheating using Bluetooth during the recruitment examination for VDO/RO.
Rewad had been evading arrest for over a year, prompting the Additional Director General to announce a reward of Rs 25,000 for information leading to his capture.
Police have stated that further investigations are underway to identify and arrest other members involved in the racket.
