
Jaipur, March 23 The Rajasthan Police have seized over 762 kg of illegal poppy husk after an encounter with smugglers in the Pratapgarh district and frozen properties worth approximately Rs 1.12 crore linked to drug trafficking, officials said on Monday.
Superintendent of Police B Aditya said the seizure was made under 'Operation Trinetra' after a police team chased a suspicious pickup vehicle near Dhariyawad.
The alleged smugglers reportedly rammed a police vehicle, fired around 15-16 rounds, and fled into the nearby forest, abandoning the vehicle.
Police recovered 762.15 kg of poppy husk packed in 38 sacks along with a live cartridge from the vehicle.
A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to trace the accused, officials said.
In a separate action, police froze movable and immovable assets worth Rs 1.12 crore belonging to two alleged drug smugglers under the NDPS Act, the SP said.
He said the accused, identified as Shahrukh Khan and Dilawar Khan, were allegedly using proceeds from the illegal drug trade to build luxury houses and purchase an SUV.
Police said that boards have been installed at the seized properties, and further action against drug traffickers and their networks will continue.
