Rajasthan Politics: Congress Leader Raises Concerns.webp

Jaipur, April 2 – The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Rajasthan, veteran Congress leader Tikaram Jully, launched a strong attack on the state government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, accusing it of failing in governance, controlling inflation, and safeguarding constitutional values.

He was addressing a public rally in Beawar under the Congress campaign "Strengthen Organisation, Save Democracy."

LoP Jully stated that democracy and the Constitution framed by B.R. Ambedkar are under threat.

"We (the Congress) will not step back, even if it requires the ultimate sacrifice, to protect the Constitution," he asserted, invoking poet Dushyant Kumar to describe the current situation as a decisive turning point.

The Congress leader accused the BJP of ignoring rising prices, citing the steep increase in petrol rates over the years.

He also questioned the Centre's response to issues affecting Indians abroad and alleged delays in clearing MNREGA wage dues.

Taking a dig at the BJP's "double engine" narrative, LoP Jully said, "A second engine is only needed when the first one has failed."

He alleged that while the "Delhi engine" has stalled, the "Rajasthan engine" lacks direction.

He also criticised Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma's visits to Delhi, claiming that Rajasthan has not received its due share of funds.

"These visits are not for Rajasthan's development, but to safeguard political interests," LoP Jully said.

Raising the issue of the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP), the LoP alleged that the project has seen "only a change in name, not in progress."

He said that renaming the ERCP does not address the core concerns of water availability for the region.

On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, LoP Jully urged people to recognize their collective strength, drawing a parallel with Lord Hanuman.

He also accused the state government of neglecting decisions taken by the previous Congress government, including granting district status to Beawar.

He concluded by asserting that the Congress will continue to raise issues concerning the public and fight for Rajasthan's rights.
