
Guwahati, April 7 Rajasthan Royals inflicted a crushing 27-run defeat on Mumbai Indians in their rain-affected IPL match here on Tuesday.
After posting a formidable 150 for three in a game that was reduced to an 11-over contest due to rain, the RR bowlers restricted MI to 123 for nine in their full quota of overs.
Asked to bat first, openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi set the tone from the start, scoring 80 runs in just 5 overs at the Barsapara Stadium.
Jaiswal remained unbeaten with 77 off 32 balls, while the 15-year-old Sooryavanshi plundered 39 runs in just 14 deliveries, including hitting two sixes off the great Jasprit Bumrah in his very first over.
The start of the match was delayed by over two and a half hours due to persistent rain.
