Rajasthan Sees Two Road Accidents, Resulting in Fatalities.webp

Jaipur, April 4 Four people, including a police sub-inspector, were killed and three injured in two separate road accidents in Rajasthan, police said on Saturday.

In the Bharatpur district, a speeding Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) ran over three people, killing two instantly, while another died during treatment, officials said.

The incident occurred near Gopalgarh on Friday night when a car hit a motorcycle carrying a brother-sister duo and a boy. Eyewitnesses said the SUV dragged the two-wheeler for a few meters before the driver fled, abandoning the car at the scene.

The victims were identified as Najakat Ali (28), his sister Mussi (38), and her son Monis (15). Police said the trio had stopped near Andhwari village and were about to dismount the motorcycle when the speeding car hit them from behind.

Mussi and Monis died on the spot, while Najakat succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Alwar. The accused driver is at large, and efforts are underway to locate him, police said, adding that the damaged vehicles have been seized.

In a separate incident, Sub-Inspector Hanuman Meena (55), stationed at the Sapotra police station in Karauli district, died after the car he was travelling in collided with a truck on the Jaipur-Bandikui Expressway on Saturday morning.

The accident took place near Nangal Bela village under the Andhi police station limits in Jaipur Rural. Two constables and another man were injured in the incident and admitted to a hospital in Dausa district.

Station House Officer Gopal Singh said preliminary investigations suggest that the driver may have dozed off, leading to the collision, although a sudden application of brakes by the trailer could also be a factor.

Further investigations are underway in both cases, police added.
