
Jaipur, March 11 The Rajasthan government will celebrate Chaitra Shukla Pratipada with a series of events starting on March 14, officials said on Wednesday.
The main event will be held in Jalore on March 19.
Following an initiative by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the state government has shifted the celebrations to Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. This year, the government will continue the practice with various events across the state from March 14 to March 19.
According to an official statement, the celebrations will begin on March 14 with a seven-day cleanliness drive. While state-level programmes are planned in Jaipur, district-level events will be held across all districts.
On March 15, the chief minister will flag off a state-level 'Viksit Rajasthan Run' in Jaipur. A digital quiz titled 'Rajasthan Ko Jaanein' will also be held on the same day. In addition, universities and colleges will organize essay, speech, and painting competitions. A five-day Rajasthan Diwas event will begin at Bikaner House in New Delhi that evening.
On March 16, Rajasthan Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas will be organized at Beneshwar Dham in Dungarpur. The program will include foundation-laying ceremonies for development works, exhibitions of tribal art and handicrafts, and interaction sessions.
Rajasthan Yuva Shakti Diwas will be celebrated on March 17 with a state-level youth conference in Jaipur. March 18 will be observed as Farmers and Livestock Rearers Prosperity Day. On this occasion, an evening aarti will be performed at state-run temples, and the chief minister will participate in a maha aarti.
The main Rajasthan Diwas function will be held in Jalore on March 19. A beneficiaries' conference will be organized where interaction with beneficiaries and direct benefit transfers will take place. A state-level cultural program will be held in Jaipur in the evening.
Traditionally, Rajasthan Day is celebrated on March 30 to mark the formation of Rajasthan in 1949, when various princely states were merged to create Greater Rajasthan. However, the BJP government has shifted the celebrations to Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, the first day of the Hindu month of Chaitra.
