Patna, March 4 Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was considering the option of contesting the Rajya Sabha elections, a state minister said on Wednesday, a day before the deadline for filing nomination papers for the biennial elections to the Upper House of Parliament.
State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, who is also a former Bihar unit president of the JD(U), said the CM will make the final decision.
"Discussions are ongoing. A decision will be made by the honourable chief minister," Chaudhary said when asked whether Kumar, who turned 75 last week, could file his nomination papers.
He reiterated that Kumar's son, Nishant, was set to enter active politics, and that his joining the JD(U) was "merely a formality," although he did not disclose further details about who would succeed the party supremo as chief minister.
