Ranchi, March 26 Drones and quick response teams have been deployed, and CCTV cameras have been installed at sensitive locations in Jharkhand, as security has been tightened across the state in preparation for the Ram Navami celebrations, police said.
Religious processions will be taken out in most districts on Friday, while those will be held in Hazaribag and Jamshedpur, both sensitive areas, on Saturday, a senior police officer said.
Jharkhand Director General of Police (DGP) Tadasha Mishra reviewed the law and order situation, and safety arrangements in Ranchi city on Wednesday night.
The DGP directed senior officials to ensure the deployment of adequate police forces in sensitive and crowded areas.
She also called for heightened vigilance and physical verification of the routes of religious processions, as well as keeping a close watch on social media and other digital platforms for rumour-mongering.
CCTV cameras have been installed at strategic locations, particularly along the procession routes, and drone surveillance is being conducted, police said.
Anti-riot vehicles, quick response teams, water cannons, and ambulances have been deployed.
Flag marches are being conducted in various districts to ensure peace and harmony during the festival.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren recently directed officials to take action against any attempt to disrupt law and order during upcoming festivals, including Ram Navami.
Soren directed the deputy commissioners and superintendents of police of all districts to ensure strict security arrangements across the state.
Safe zones must be established along procession routes, and adequate arrangements should be in place to handle emergencies, the CM said.
He also called for monitoring social media and taking quick action against anyone spreading misinformation or rumours.
