Ramban/Jammu, April 2 A 15-year-old girl was found hanging from a tree in a village in the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, officials said.
The girl was found hanging from a tree near her village of Haroog in the Gool area, they said, adding that her family had alleged that she was murdered.
National Conference MLA from Banihal, Sajjad Shaheen, also raised the issue in the legislative assembly and demanded a thorough investigation, claiming that this was the second such incident in the area in the past month.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Ramban, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, said that a post-mortem examination of the deceased was conducted at the Ramban district hospital by a panel of doctors.
An investigation has been initiated to probe the incident, he said.
