Jammu, March 26 The administration has sought information and evidence from the public following an order by authorities to conduct a magisterial inquiry into an encounter in the Ramnagar area of Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir last month.

Two Pakistani terrorists, including a top commander of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), were killed in the encounter on February 3 after they were trapped inside a cave in the Joffer area of the district, officials said.

"It is hereby notified for the information of the general public that any person having knowledge, information, or any evidence (oral or documentary) regarding the identity, background, or activities of the persons involved in the said incident is requested to appear before the undersigned at the office in Ramnagar by March 31," Swati Sheemar, Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM), Ramnagar, said in a public notice.

She said people should come forward and submit their statements or relevant material for consideration to assist the inquiry, adding that the identities of the informants would be kept confidential.

The Udhampur district magistrate ordered a probe into the incident that occurred on February 3 at Lehar village within the Ramnagar police station limits, led by SDM Sheemar as the inquiry officer.

In the encounter, security forces gunned down two terrorists identified as Aslam alias Mavju alias Badshah, and Abu Oskasha alias Zubair, both residents of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, officials said.
