
Ranchi, February 19 Three individuals were rescued from a mob in Ranchi on Thursday after locals suspected them of being child kidnappers, police said.
The incident took place in Adelhatu, under the Bariatu police station limits, where the three were travelling in an e-rickshaw with a child who was crying.
Upon hearing the child cry, the locals intercepted the vehicle and detained the three on suspicion of child abduction.
"Police arrived on time and rescued them from the mob," said Sadar Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Besra.
The three were taken to the Bariatu police station and are being questioned, he added.
In a separate incident in the Koderma district, a young man was allegedly beaten up by villagers on suspicion of being a child kidnapper.
The incident occurred in the Nawadih village, under the Morkochcho police station area, when the unidentified young man was seen roaming in the village, police said.
Upon receiving information, a police team reached the spot and rescued the young man. Further investigation is underway, officials added.
