Puducherry, March 19 N Rangasamy, the founder-president of AINRC and Chief Minister of Puducherry, visited temples in neighboring Tamil Nadu on Thursday.
The chief minister visited the Sri Sarguru Appa Paithiyam Swamigal temple in Salem, and also worshipped at the Subramania Swamy temple in Tiruchendur and the Meenakshi temple in Madurai.
He was not accompanied by any party members, and AINRC sources said that Rangasamy sought the blessings of God for the victory of his party candidates and also for the success of the nominees of alliance partners in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Election officials checked the chief minister's car while he was traveling on the Madurai-Thoothukudi highway.
Meanwhile, Jose Charles Martin, president of the Latchia Jananayaga Katchi, strongly objected to Rangasamy's "tour" at a time when finalizing the alliance to fight the elections was crucial.
"Such tours outside Puducherry by Rangasamy only shows his frivolous attitude," he told reporters here.
The Assembly elections in the union territory will be held on April 9.
