Rape Case in UP: Man Imprisoned After 10-Year Sentence.webp

Mirzapur (UP), March 23 A court here on Monday sentenced a man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in a rape case involving a woman with hearing impairment, police said.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 60,000 on the convict.

On March 28, 2018, a complaint was lodged at the Chunar police station alleging that Mahesh Singh had trespassed into a house and raped the complainant's daughter, who has a hearing impairment.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered, and action was initiated. Singh was arrested and sent to jail, police said.

On Monday, District and Sessions Judge Arvind Mishra held the accused guilty and sentenced him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment, and also imposed a fine of Rs 60,000 on him.

If the convict fails to pay the fine, he will be required to undergo an additional imprisonment of two years, police said.
