In Bengaluru, on April 5, Tim David, captain Rajat Patidar, and Devdutt Padikkal delivered outstanding performances, while the bowlers of Royal Challengers Bengaluru maintained tight lines, leading to a 43-run victory over Chennai Super Kings in an IPL match on Sunday.

Padikkal (50 off 29 balls) and David (70 off 25 balls) impressed the Super Kings bowlers with their powerful hitting, and Patidar contributed with an unbeaten 48 off 19 balls.

The collective effort resulted in RCB's impressive score of 250 for three.

The Super Kings also struggled with their batting, finishing at 207 all out in 19.4 overs, which led to their third consecutive defeat this season.

Once Sanju Samson, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Ayush Mhatre were dismissed early, CSK's chase faltered.

Pacer Jacob Duffy (2/58) was the key wicket-taker, dismissing Samson and Gaikwad, both caught by Padikkal at first slip.

Samson, despite his strong performance in the T20 World Cup, struggled in the IPL for his new franchise.

Kerala batter Samson tried to play a defensive shot against Duffy, but only managed a weak push to Padikkal.

Mhatre's wicket gave veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar his 200th IPL wicket, making him the second bowler to achieve this feat after Yuzvendra Chahal.

Sarfaraz Khan offered strong resistance with a 50 off 25 balls, but the target proved too high.

Sarfaraz was dismissed by Krunal Pandya (2/36) and Bhuvneshwar (3/41), and Bhuvneshwar also dismissed Prashant Veer (43) to end an 57-run partnership between him and Jamie Overton (37), ultimately resulting in a closely contested match between the two teams.

Earlier, Royal Challengers' march towards their second consecutive win began when Devdutt constructed two crucial partnerships – 56 (37 balls) with Phil Salt (46) for the second wicket and 58 (21 balls) for the third wicket with Patidar.

These partnerships were crucial for RCB on the Chinnaswamy track, which had a slow start after CSK batted first.

Salt was the dominant partner in the second wicket partnership, helping them overcome the early dismissal of Virat Kohli (28), who was dropped by Shivam Dube off Khaleel Ahmed.

Salt's aggressive hitting, including sixes off Noor Ahmad and Anshul Kamboj, helped the home side finish the Power Play with a score of 51 for 1.

Salt was dismissed in the sixth over, caught by Ahmad in the deep off Dube. This dismissal changed the tempo of RCB's innings.

Devdutt, who had scored 18 off 17 balls until then, accelerated, smashing Dube for two sixes and a four, helping RCB's run rate exceed 10 runs per over for the first time in the innings.

The left-handed batsman achieved his second consecutive fifty in the IPL with a single off Matt Henry. However, he was unable to stay longer as an attempt to reverse scoop Jamie Overton led to his dismissal.

By then, RCB had scored 62 runs between the 11th and 15th overs. Once Devdutt was out, Patidar, along with David, built on this foundation.

The Bengaluru side had a score of 153 for 3 after 15 overs, and they added another 97 runs in the last five overs, also taking advantage of poor lines from CSK bowlers in the final overs.

Patidar and David were particularly aggressive during their fourth wicket partnership, hitting boundaries all over Chinnaswamy, adding 99 runs (36 balls) for the unbroken fourth wicket.

Patidar was particularly effective against Khaleel, who was bowling in his usual line, hitting him for two sixes and a four in his fourth and final over.

David also smashed three sixes off Ahmad in the 17th over, continuing the aggressive hitting.

Australian batsman Overton was also dismissed in the 19th over, hitting four consecutive sixes, exposing CSK's weaknesses once again.
