Jammu, April 5 Six individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking were apprehended along with contraband substances in the districts of Reasi, Poonch, and Jammu on Sunday, police said.

Following the circulation of several videos on social media showing the alleged sale of intoxicating drugs at the Purana Daroor market near Katra town in Reasi, police apprehended four individuals and recovered a consignment of banned tablets from them, a police officer said.

The apprehended individuals were identified as Rashpal Singh, Uttam Singh, and Sohal Lal, all residents of Katra, and Joginder Singh of Kanjali. Legal action has been initiated against them.

Iftikhar Hussain was arrested along with 8.80 grams of heroin during a check in the Mandi area of Poonch, while another drug peddler, Uttra Kumar Suryawanshi of Chhattisgarh, was taken into custody from the Karloop bridge in the Gajansoo area of Jammu after one kilogram of Ganja was recovered from him, the officer said.

Both accused were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
