Dehradun, Apr 2 The Uttarakhand Police has been awarded the President's Police Medals, the highest national award given to a state police force.

Director General of Police (DGP) Deepam Seth met Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to convey the information.

Dhami described it as a "golden and glorious chapter" in the state's history, and a living testament to pride, tradition, and an indomitable spirit of service.

The chief minister said the honor places the Uttarakhand Police among the select police forces of the country that have received this recognition.

He said that the achievement is even more special because it comes in the Silver Jubilee Year of the state.

Dhami said that the award is conferred after a rigorous evaluation process, with every aspect of the police force being thoroughly scrutinized.

He said that the state police's efficiency is evident in its crucial role in disaster management, particularly during the 2013 Kedarnath tragedy, and its exemplary management of security, traffic, and crowd control during massive events such as the Maha Kumbh, Char Dham Yatra, and Kanwar Yatra.
