The government has invited nominations and recommendations for the Padma Awards 2027. In a statement, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced that the Padma Awards will be announced on the occasion of Republic Day next year. The deadline for nominations for the Padma Awards is July 31st. Nominations and recommendations for the Padma Awards will only be accepted online through the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal.

The Ministry stated that all individuals, regardless of race, occupation, position, or gender, are eligible for these awards. Government employees, including those working with PSUs, except doctors and scientists, are not eligible for the Padma Awards. They have requested all citizens to submit nominations or recommendations, including self-nominations.

The Padma Awards – Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri – are among the highest civilian awards in the country. Established in 1954, these awards recognize outstanding work and are awarded for distinguished and exceptional achievements in all fields, including art, literature, and education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, civil service, and trade and industry.
