
Hyderabad, March 29 Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said on Sunday that his government has drawn up plans for the protection of cows in the state.
He said the foundation stone for a 'goshala' (cow shelter) has been laid at Yenkapally, which will be a spacious site equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
Plans have been finalized for setting up 'goshalas' in various parts of the state, including near prominent temples, Reddy told a delegation led by animal rights activist and former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi, who met him here, according to an official release.
Officials briefed Maneka Gandhi on the measures taken within the limits of the state's municipalities for the management of stray dogs and the protection of cows.
They also presented information on the ongoing sterilization drives for stray dogs across the municipalities.
They also briefed the delegation on the ground-level measures being implemented for animal protection.
Maneka Gandhi expressed her satisfaction with the various initiatives being undertaken by the Telangana government towards animal welfare, the release added.
