New Delhi, March 26 Delhi Lt Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu held a meeting with urban planners and experts from the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) on Thursday, aimed at redevelopment of transit corridors.

The meeting reviewed a presentation made by SPA members on "urban rejuvenation" and promoting tourism in the city.

"A comprehensive presentation was made by the reputed School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Delhi, on the redevelopment of transit corridors in Delhi, aimed at transforming them into green, pedestrian-friendly, employment-oriented, and recreational stretches that are functional 24x7," Sandhu said in a post on X.

This impactful initiative aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for urban rejuvenation – promoting tourism, boosting local consumption, and generating employment opportunities, he added in the post.

"Such an ambitious endeavor will require strong cooperation and seamless coordination among the capital's various civic agencies," the post further said.

Professor Dr Virendra Kr Paul, Director, SPA Delhi, presented the existing scenario of transit corridors, including the ITO intersection and the "re-densification" of the area.

Sandhu assured full support in examining the project's viability and facilitating effective inter-agency coordination for its successful implementation.
