Refineries to Boost LPG Production Amid Supply Concerns

Refineries to Boost LPG Production Amid Supply Concerns.webp

The government has issued an order to oil refineries to increase LPG production and use the surplus for domestic consumption. This move comes in the context of current geopolitical disruptions affecting fuel supply and constraints on LPG availability.

In a social media post, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that the government has prioritized domestic LPG supply to households and introduced a 25-day inter-booking period to prevent hoarding and black market activities. It also stated that non-domestic supply from imported LPG is being prioritized for essential non-domestic sectors such as hospitals and educational institutions.

The ministry further stated that a committee comprising three Executive Directors from Oil Marketing Companies has been formed to review requests for LPG supply to restaurants, hotels, and other industries.
